People in Malvern do try to help...
Myself, along with others, have donated time and ideas....some in formal group settings and some informal...My personal experience has not been the best...We have lived in Malvern for about 11 years, I thought I needed to become more involved in the town I call home, Malvern. I will NOT name any names, however, a certain "few" seemed to have already decided upon decisions prior to group meetings. The ideas and thoughts that were shared outside this "group" were little entertained....If it wasn't certain peoples ideas they were not considered. I have lost interest in going back...We need and should be wanting diversity...and if we ask for that, we as a town need to be honest and model integrity...if we are asking people of this/our/their community to become more supportive, involved, and address accountability, then we need to listen and entertain DIVERSE ideas and thoughts.......Working together towards a common goal....happiness and success for all of us and our town..

Thank you for another voice.
ReplyDeleteI won't ask for names. I was born and raised here and still understand what you're saying. I'm not sure the 'few' know what they're doing.
I want to ask a couple of questions, not to instigate, but to get a better understanding.
Why do 'outsiders' care what the 'few' do or think if they outnumber them?
How can the 'few' start their own group or integrate both groups into a new, existing, or separate group?
Why don't the majority get together and kick the 'few' out of the way?
I ask these not to promote separation of the groups, but to try and figure out why there are two groups. If the majority feels left out, why not turn the tables make the minority feel left out?
I know of specific examples of what you are saying. We have lost some great 'doers' and voices for these exact reasons. It's time to get over hurt feelings and make put these things on the table. It's time that the 'few' acknowledge how they are handcuffing themselves, at the very least stop denying the possibility that it isn't the 'outsiders' fault alone.
